DEREK HAMILTON
I
got my first accordion
in 1950 when I was 5 years old. Played accordion for many years and
took up the organ in 1965. The 'group' era had begun and my interest
moved to the 'pop' music of the day and I played guitar in a group called
the 'Beetles' - alas not the real ones. First liaison with Ian Muir
was in 1980 when I produced and engineered Ian's first solo recording
- 'Ian Muir's Welcome'. Now I mainly play drums with the trio but for
broadcasts and bigger functions it's the 2nd accordion.
Most of my playing nowadays is
with Charlie Kirkpatrick where I play keyboard in the trio.
Following about 12 years producing
albums under the Ayrespin label, I set up Bryansroom in 1991.
I retired from 49 years of work
in May 2010. All my working life I was an engineer working for companies
that supplied pipes and fittings to the Water Industry, the last 40
being involved in Sales.
Jean and I were married in 1965
and have two sons Bryan and Kevin.
Essentially Bryansroom is a facility
set up to encourage those who might not get a recording contract from
a fully professional company but who have a talent that should be displayed
to a wide audience.
All of the artists appearing here are of the highest standard, producing
music which is the best of its genre.
I've recently been talked into
recording some stuff of my own. You can find links to it from this page.
